We are delighted to announce that Tung Chung Kindergarten is now a registered Childcare Centre provider and we are ready to launch ESF’s first pre-nursery classes in August 2022. Our current Childcare Centre licence allows for nine toddlers per session.
Pre-Nursery (PN) is an unaccompanied class open to toddlers from two years old. We provide five sessions Monday to Friday either 8.30-11.30am or 1.00-4:00pm. Located within ESF’s Tung Chung International Kindergarten Campus, our pre-nursery is staffed by a highly skilled and caring team who are all certified Early Childhood educators and EDB registered childcare workers. Among the team is a designated child care supervisor who leads the rest of the team in their collaborative practice, curriculum development and partnerships with our parent community. We pride ourselves on listening carefully to what toddlers bring to their learning and to develop a curriculum that honours their interest and ideas and values them as competent learners. As a team of exceptional teachers, we are passionate about developing learning and teaching opportunities that stimulate and challenge toddlers’ thinking and creativity. We are proud to offer families an adult to toddler ratio of 1:5 enabling our teachers to provide a child-centred, personalised approach to learning that values all toddlers and their individual interests.
Toddlers enrolled into pre-nursery follow an inquiry-based curriculum exploring the five strands of Wellbeing, Belonging, Communication, Contribution and Exploration. The Curriculum is designed to be responsive to toddlers’ rapidly growing capabilities and provide them with a strong foundation for an ESF education. We actively encourage toddlers to become part of our school community from the age of two years so they can gain a sense of belonging and develop their physical, social, cognitive and language capabilities.
